Pennsylvania Firebacks combines elegant design and durable casting to create heirloom-quality pieces that will endure the test of time and fire. Firebacks are shipped with a water base black paint to prevent rust build up during transit. To give a brighter finish to the fireback and to protect the casting from rust after use with a fire, an application of water base graphite stove polish is recommended. Applied with a toothbrush or rag, this paste, when dry, can be polished with a wire brush or rag giving the fireback an attractive silverfish sheen.The Pennsylvania Firebacks American Eagle Cast Iron Fireback commemorates the use of the American Bald Eagles use on the Great Seal of the United States over two-hundred years ago. A grand bald eagle, set in a field of fifty stars, clutches a banner on which is written: Be Liberty Thine in its right talon while in its left are arrows and an olive branch. Behind the eagle is a sunburst with seven major and six minor rays piercing the clouds. An early cast of this beautiful fireback was sent to the White House as a gift and accepted by President Ronald Reagan. This fireback is made by hand in the USA and is an original design by J.
