The careful art of preserving Americas early history in the form of metalwork is a passion of the reknown Winterthur Museum in Delaware. Their impressive collection of American-made and imported metalwork is comprised of more than 21,000 objects! One very important group within this collection is that of wrought iron hardware as well as ornamental and useful iron implements, such as the fireback. Firebacks are shipped with a water base black paint to prevent rust build up during transit. To give a brighter finish to the fireback and to protect the casting from rust after use with a fire, an application of water base graphite stove polish is recommended. Applied with a toothbrush or rag, this paste, when dry, can be polished with a wire brush or rag giving the fireback an attractive silverfish sheen.Established in 1766 as part of a historic iron furnace compex, Aetna Furnace was instrumental in developing an entire community centered around the metalworking craft. Enter the Pennsylvania Firebacks Aetna Rooster Cast Iron Fireback. Pennsylvania Firebacks master artisans created this reproduction fireback on which is displayed the iconic Aetna rooster. Containing finely-detailed elements of the original firebacks textures and sculptural design, the rooster has long been a symbol of victory. This fireback would be an ideal addition to any hearth in the New England region where so much of Americas colonial history can still be seen today.|Cast Iron Construction |22 inch W x 26 inch H |Handmade in the USA
