While filling the room with generous light, designer Barbara Maggiolo sees the Rina Flushmount from Vistosi more as a sculpture by reimaging the charming dandelion seed pod with traditionally blown glass. By taking a sculptural approach, Maggiolo offers a piece that’s visually impactful both day and night. The piece underlines Maggiolo’s passion for glass and showcasing its atmospheric qualities. The compact metal hardware gives the piece a tidy, floating look overhead. The globe shade brims with transforming texture, made using a traditional technique called Murrine. This technique requires a molten glass globe to be rolled over and combined with a sea of hand-cut glass pieces. Light interacting with the Murrine glass surface creates a dandelion-like cast display on the ceiling. The light moves into the room with a spacious feel. Shape: Globe. Color: Silver.
