Detail
The Vilhelm Lauritzen-designed VLA26T Vega Chair from Carl Hansen continues to entertain since its inception in 1956, an original addition to the Vega concert hall in Copenhagen. The father of Danish Modernism, revered architect Vilhelm Lauritzen helped set the trajectory for the form-follows-function design movement. Lauritzen put usability first, as shown in this chairs stackable steel framework, one that helps clear up floor space in a pinch. While strong, this framework is light enough for quick rearranging. Its smooth contours hold wood resting elements that contrast with a natural grain texture. The deep curves of these resting elements cradle the body comfortably for long seating stints. Color: Oak. Finish: Lacquered Oak.
