A lacquered disc base secures the fixture, sending up a machined brass stem to lamping set beneath a rounded diffuser shade of opal glass, restrained by a slender brass ring. The translucent surface of the glass mixes with the raw metalwork to provide a warm gleam of light, while the matte-textured base drinks in brightness from the lamping to create a floating, haloed effect.
