The engaging Multileg Sideboard by BD Barcelona defines playful sculptural storage. Swiftly designed by Jamie Hayon in preparation for the Milano Furniture Fair in 2006, a single blocky leg brace with a rectangular housing fashioned from MDF contrasted with a series of slender spiraled counterparts in different shapes that descend around it. Clean geometric cabinet fronts contrast the whimsical base, while a painted glass tabletop caps enduring alder wood and MDF, celebrating Spanish modernism. The design is arresting and enduring, contrasting the orderly cabinet with the sculptural chaos of the under-legs to create a true statement piece through unlikely balance and artful dichotomy.
