The Hashira High Floor Lamp from Audo Copenhagen, formerly known as Menu, is generous in its design, with cozy, atmospheric qualities, evoking traditional Japanese lanterns. Humble Scandinavian simplicity and refined Japanese design cues find a beautiful balance in creator Norm Architects’ ‘soft minimalism’ design approach that seeks to arrive at a place where there is nothing more to add or take away. Here, the design refines the round silhouette of the washi paper lantern into a columnar shape, with the lamp’s name also translated as ‘Column’ in Japanese. The open, round base accentuates the fair-colored shade, diffusing the light a full 360 degrees to create an aura of even ambiance. Color: Brown.
