A tower or warm, soothing illumination. The Paper Moon Cone Table Lamp from Asano is a meditative piece crafted by hand using longstanding Japanese lantern-making techniques. To achieve such a simple shape, artisans in Japan’s Gifu region must perform with great attention to detail. Artisans start by intricately wrapping a steel wire armature with delicate rings of fine bamboo. Often used in origami for its strength and rich texture, washi paper serves as the lamp’s beautiful shade. Without being plugged in, the cone form brings a meditative quality to the room.
